How will my actions now affect the world for my grandchildren?
If we cannot solve the problems with the same thinking that created them. How do we solve them?
Does all human activity have ecological significence?
What underlying assumptions do we need to get rid of? For example is economic growth compatible with sustainable living – living within the renewable systems of the Earth.
About the Conference
Dear Earth is a forum for people to come together and through the talks, workshops and sharing, experience a deeper connectedness to the Earth and our collective future.
The conference offers three paths through the talks –
Martin Donnelly will be singing his deep nature inspired songs throughout the conference to help us connect with the theme and each other more profoundly.
The workshops offer new paths to deepening our experience of the Earth through drama exercises, art, contemplative enquiry, looking into ourselves to act or not to act, connective action and ecological citizenship so we can be inspired in our personal and working lives to make change.
The Sharing Cafe on Sunday will bring our experiences together, look at some of the above questions and find inspiration for making changes in our own lives.
Young people under 30 years are strongly urged to come – we can offer free working tickets in return for a bit of help during the conference.

About the Conference
Dear Earth is a forum for people to come together and through the talks, workshops and sharing, experience a deeper connectedness to the Earth and our collective future.
The conference offers three paths through the talks –
- Activism – standing your ground in the face of challenges (government or corporate) with Michael Schmidt
- Raising consciousness and engaging the imagination through collective action with Shelley Sacks
- Deepening our connection with the spirit (of the Earth) through contemplation with Tom Ravetz.
Martin Donnelly will be singing his deep nature inspired songs throughout the conference to help us connect with the theme and each other more profoundly.

We are a group of individuals who have come together to create
this event in East Clare, specifically the Scariff/Tuamgraney area of Co. Clare in the West of Ireland: Ian Castles (Artist), Caroline Kelly (Educator), Paul Brennan (Theater Director), Ute Koenig (Priest of the Christian Community) and Anne Benham (organic grower/food producer). |
The title of the conference, Dear Earth, is how we feel about our home, whose future and ours are intrinsically linked - we cannot grow and develop as human beings unless we support the Earth in transformation and vice versa.
The talks, workshops, art performances, music and a sharing cafe will help the participants to enter a process of connecting more deeply with themselves and the Earth – the inner and the outer. |
Part of the conference will be based at the East Clare Community Co-op, a 27 year old non profit community organisation which aims to provide a diverse range of sustainable and inclusive activities that promote learning and well-being to all members of the
community. It runs a family support service, Scariff Community Garden, Sustenance- the Clare Food Training and Enterprise facility
and Cothú Cookery school. It collaborates with a number of people and agencies to provide accredited educational courses and
workshops, to run the coffee shop and second hand shop, to provide support for the local small holders co-op. The co-op rents
centrally based premises at affordable rates to all members of the community. http://www.eastclarecommunitycoop.com/
